German Wine Matching Evening

Highly acclaimed restaurant, The Vanilla Pod in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, is holding two German Wine Matching Evenings this month, demonstrating the food friendly nature of German wines. The evenings, which costs £85.00 per person, include a five course set meal accompanied by a selection of German wines from top estates including Knipser and Hans Lang. All the wines tasted will be provided by The Wine Keller (www.thewinekeller.co.uk), a supplier focussing on hand crafted German wines from family run producers.

With summer arriving, German wines really come into their own. Light and refreshing and naturally lower in alcohol they are an ideal choice to accompany picnic lunches and light summer dishes. And it is not only wines made from the noble Riesling grape that Germany has to offer. Germany also produces a significant amount of Pinot Grigio – currently a favourite amongst wine drinkers in the UK.

Often referred to as Pinot Gris, this varietal also has a German name. To win a mixed case of wine, including fine examples of German Pinot Grigio, enter the Wines of Germany bi-monthly competition and tell us the German name for Pinot Gris/ Pinot Grigio.
