Georg Breuer
Breuer is one of the stars of the Rheingau. His clear quality led philosophy and emphasis on dry and off-dry styles means that his wines are the perfect accompaniment to food. In exceptional vintages he also makes mouth watering sweet dessert wines.
The estate, run with his two sons Bernhard and Heinrich, was founded in 1880 and covers 58 acres in Rudesheim and Rauenthal in the Rheingau. Today they concentrate on growing Riesling and Pinot Noir, also known as Spätburgunder in Germany.
For those who have time to spend in the region, Breuer also runs the nearby Rudesheimer Schloss hotel and restaurant, which makes a great base for exploring the surrounding vineyards. More details can be found on www.rudesheimer-schloss.com
Breuer’s winning wine making skills recently won him funding from the UK to help bring his wines onto the market. For your nearest stockist visit Noel Young Wine Merchants at www.nywines.co.uk
