Ruppertsberg

Ruppertsberg is one of the most important and innovative co-operatives supplying German wine lovers with a wide range of great wines. It is situated in the village of the same name, in the traditional wine growing area of the Pfalz.

200 hectares of vines (the equivalent of 200 football pitches!) are cultivated in Ruppertsberg and the surrounding villages of Königsbach and Mussbach to the south, and Deidesheim to the north. Ruppertsberg work closely with their 100 producers to ensure that only the best quality grapes go into their wine.

Their vineyards are protected to the west by the Haardt Mountains, which shelters the vines from heavy rainfall, and creates a mild climate which is ideal for production of Germany’s noble grape, Riesling. Light sandy soils with a high percentage of limestone produce the best Riesling, while heavier clay soils produce the best red wines.

Ruppertsberg have some of the newest, state of the art equipment in the region, including modern cellars. The guidance of Managing Director, Gerhard Brauer and his team of highly qualified winemakers enable the co-operative to produce top quality wines ranging from traditional dry styles to delicious Eiswein.

Should you be passing, Ruppertsberg have fantastic tasting facilities where you can sample the wines and a wine shop to buy a bottle or two as a souvenir of your visit.

In the UK, Ruppertsberg Dry QbA is available at The Wine Society.
