RECENT TRIP REPORTS
Tim Atkin MW and Anthony Rose
Tim Atkin, wine writer for a number of trade and lifestyle publications including The Observer and Woman & Home, and Anthony Rose, writer for The Independent, visited Germany from 2-6 June 2008. Their itinerary included visits to a number of wineries, both large and small, in the Rheingau, Rheinhessen, Mosel and Pfalz regions and tastings with both the Grosser Ring and Bernkastler Ring in the Mosel.
Tim found his trip very useful, saying: “It was good to see a variety of producers, and to look at the mass market as well as estates. The 2007s were the highlight.”
Tim has already written a feature on his visit for Off Licence News and plans to write further features in The Observer Magazine and Wine & Spirit.
Anthony Rose said: “It was a really useful trip in terms of updating my knowledge of Germany and I hope to be able to include it in future publications for whom I write. I think the combination of visits to estates and commercial producers and the wine tasting in Trier put things into useful perspective.”
Anthony’s article looking at the development of the German wine offering also appeared in The Independent Magazine on Sunday 5 July.
