Germany once again wowed the panel. It was the only country where more than 20% of the wines received either a
Gold or Silver medal.
Simon Woods, WINE International, November 2005
Germany has always made some of the world’s greatest white wines and I, for one, am a great Riesling fan [...]
Many high-end, opinion-forming restaurants are seeing excellent sales of German wines. Caterer & Hotelkeeper, 3 November 2005
I am not sure at what point exactly during my first ever trip to Germany I realised just what I had been missing
out on […] Maybe it was when sampling yet another fabulous wine of the region.
Janette Atkin, Leicester Mercury, 12 November 2005
I have visited the Saar several times and met the leading winemakers. I have come away astounded by the overall quality
of this little-known, often misunderstood region, convinced it is producing some of the world’s greatest yet least-appreciated
whites. William Echikson, Wall Street Journal Europe, 18 November 2005
A stunning Renaissance is now well underway…sales of German wine priced above £6 have grown dramatically…British consumers

THE WINES OF GERMANY RIESLING ROOM LONDON INTERNATIONAL WINE & SPIRITS FAIR 2006, 16-18 MAY 2006
At the LIWSF, 16-18 May 2006, Wines of Germany will be hosting The Riesling Room to showcase the very best wines that Germany has to offer in an area which will be THE place to taste Riesling at the Fair. This generic area will showcase Germany’s top wines (Riesling and other grape varieties) as selected by an independent panel of experts in the UK.
This new format will offer a destination for all Riesling fans. We will also use the Riesling Room to build on the success of last year’s International Riesling Review; we will host a series of interactive tastings attracting key visitors on to our new stand.
For more information on The Riesling Room please contact Sally Bolt on (+44) 020 7759 7431 or email sally.bolt@phippspr.co.uk
GENERATION RIESLING TASTING, THE IMAGINATION GALLERY, LONDON, 8 JUNE 2006
The Wines of Germany trade, press and sommelier tasting in 2006 will focus on showcasing wines from up to twenty young German producers (all aged under 35) from various regions, under the banner of ‘Generation Riesling’. The tasting will be held at The Imagination Gallery - a stylish, modern venue in Central London and will be open to a limited number of trade attendees. We aim to show the press and sommeliers the ‘next generation’ of exciting and dynamic producers – some of whom will already have UK representation and some who are new to the market - in a strong and targeted event which will create excitement and interest.
Producers have been invited to submit two wines each, which will be judged by a panel of young UK-based wine experts. The panel will select the best wines on their quality and their suitability to market. The pre-judging will take place in London on the 15 February 2006 and the judging panel will include UK retail wine buyers, journalists and sommeliers. This will add to the exclusivity of the event and ensure that we only show Germany’s best and most modern wines. The selected producers will also be used in PR communications to generate coverage for German wine.
