2008 WIne Awards' Dinners

This year's wine awards' dinners are taking place on the following dates:

• Decanter World Wine Awards, 1 September 2008 - Natural History Museum
• IWC, 3 September 2008 - The Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane
• IWSC Awards Banquet, 17 November 2008 - Guildhall, City of London

Sommelier Breakfast Tasting Series

Wines of Germany is hosting a series of three 'Sommelier Breakfast Tastings' over the next three months.  Each tasting will be held at Le Pont de la Tour, Butlers Wharf, from 10.00am to 11.30am.

The tastings will each have a different theme and will give sommeliers the chance to taste exquisite examples of German wines readily available to the on-trade.  Winemakers and on-trade supplier representatives will also be in attendance.  The dates and themes of the tastings are as follows:

• Tuesday 23 September 2008 - German white wines other than Riesling.  (Uwe Matheus from Weingut Wirsching to attend)
• Tuesday 21 October 2008 - German red wines.  (Tom Gendall from Weingut Keller to attend)
• Tuesday 18 November 2008 - Older vintage German wines

Sommeliers who attend two out of the three tastings will be eligible to win a scholarship to study for the WSET Advanced Certificate.
